Strikeshield systems are the only after-market add-on lightning protection systems for sailboats and catamarans on the market. With Strikeshield, there is no need to worry about the cost of a complete and retrofit to ensure proper lightning protection for your sailboat or catamaran. We designed and engineered the Strikeshield Systems to help bridge the gap that exists between un-protected sailboats and the lack of readily available efficient protection against lightning. When lightning strikes the mast of a Strikeshield equipped sailboat, the immense energy pulse entering the mast is immediately grounded in the water surrounding the boat. Strikeshield quickly creates a reliable lightning protection ground from the mast of the sailboat to the water. All Strikeshield systems have been designed to comply and exceed the ABYC's Standard E-4 on lightning protection . Strikeshield, the most reliable and fastest selling after-market Lightning Protection System for Sailboats and Catamarans.

Document General Information about Strikeshield by SEYLA Marine — last modified Dec 28, 2007 06:56 PM
The result of assiduous research and rigorous engineering, the Strikeshield is an effective portable temporary mast-grounding system that can be quickly deployed when needed and stowed away again when danger has passed.
Document CSS Lightning Protection System by SEYLA Marine — last modified Dec 28, 2007 06:45 PM
The CSS-15 is a single cable system which requires the semi-permanent installation of a contact plate to the mast of the sailboat. It is suitable for both catamarans and sailboats. It has one high capacity conductor cable capable of withstanding multiple lightning strikes to which is attached a uniquely designed electrical dissipater electrode that hangs overboard and is submerged in the water.

Document LRAT Air Terminals by SEYLA Marine — last modified Jan 07, 2008 07:35 AM
The air terminal is a sacrificial piece of equipment. It is intended to receive the lightning strike and direct the resulting energy into the mast. It also serves to protect masthead equipment.

The dissipater electrode is the working end of the Strikeshield system. In contact with the body of water, it ensures a low impedance, direct ground connection to earth through its copper mass and edges.
